Baby Room Design and How To Use A sample Board To Bring All The Elements Together
By Sherrie Le Masurier
I’ve heard it makes sense to create a sample board to help you bring all your baby room design elements together. Do you have
any tips for creating one?
Yes, creating a sample board is one of the best ways to visually bring your baby room design elements together before going out
and making any purchases.
The advantage of a sample board is that you’ll have all your selections together in one convenient spot and you’ll be able to see how your
wallpaper, fabric and paint will work or won’t work together in your baby room design.
A sample board also allows you to experiment with different samples and swatches in order come up with your desired look.
How to create a baby room design sample board.
A sample board for your baby room design need not be elaborate.
You can purchase a white foam-core presentation board from an art supply shop or use a piece of cardboard covered in plain white paper. An 8 ½
x 11 inch board is ideal.
Tack paint chips, fabric swatches and wallpaper samples to your board using a re-usable tack (instead of glue) so the samples can be later
returned if necessary.
Use two-thirds of your board for your wall and window samples, and then designate the remaining third for your furniture, flooring and
bedding.
Experiment with different baby room design looks by adding and removing things.
Also view your sample board in the room at different times of the day to get a realistic sense of how your selections will look under various
lighting conditions.
